It is a historic city of 65,000 inhabitants that offers to show you its relics of the past: medieval artifacts, ruins and history. As “La Capella de Osos” a 18th century church located in the center of Faro. The whole site is covered with gloomy ornaments consisting of more than 1200 bones and 1000 skulls of monks of the Carmelite order. The city is bordered by numerous sandy beaches with blue waters where you can rest and enjoy. Faro is also known for its famous Ria Formosa lagoon, a nature reserve of over 17,000 hectares and a stopover for hundreds of species of birds less than 10 km west of Faro. This city is a great place to visit and it is here that you can enjoy Portuguese specialities in the many restaurants that Faro has to offer. If you like golf, this is also the place to be, as there are no less than 19 courses to choose from. There is plenty to enjoy for all.
