It is located at the north-western tip of Morocco, in the Rif mountain range, only 14 kilometres from the European continent. The region is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. It is bordered to the south by the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Fès-Meknès and to the east by the Oriental region. It is one of the oldest regions of the Mediterranean with the most attractive landscapes and historical monuments but also with one of the largest ports of the Mediterranean (Tangier Med) and an international airport. The Tangier-Tetouan region ranks first among the regions receiving Foreign Direct Investment in Morocco after the Grand Casablanca.
