🏘️ Town 🌴 Jungle 🏞️ Waterfall 🏰 Temple ⛰️ Hill station ⛰️ MountainChefchaouen is a very picturesque town. Photo enthusiasts can take beautiful blue-tinted pictures here. The handicraft is very rich and has unique characteristics in Morocco. As for the cuisine, it is listed by Unesco. Chefchaouen is a very authentic Moroccan town where the walls of the whitewashed houses are also coloured blue with a mineral pigment called "smalt blue". This bluish decoration gives a crazy charm to the streets of the medina, which you can visit also by taking stairs and very narrow alleys. The doors of the houses are also blue, and some of them look like real works of art. Stop to contemplate them. This is also a good opportunity to take a break, as it is a very steep town. The province of Chefchaouen is located in the north of Morocco, in the Tangier-Tetouan region. It is a mountainous and rural province, but also forested, on the massif of the Jebala Country. Chefchaouen itself is at an altitude of 600 m, among high peaks. This tourist town attracts many travellers in search of adventure. It is a starting point for many day hikes as well as multi-day treks through the Rif mountains. One of the most beautiful sites in the region is called Pont de Dieu. This natural bridge is over the Oued Farda, an exceptionally clear river known for its magnificent gorges. Hikers often go to Akchour, a 30-40 minute drive from Chefchaouen, but the village can also be reached on foot in a few hours, with a visit to the village of Kalaa and the waterfalls. The excursion from Akchour to the waterfalls lasts 2h30 and is decidedly sporting. But the place is superb and tired walkers can refresh themselves in the water. More experienced hikers can take on the trails of the Tallasemtane Natural Park for several days. A guide is essential for this expedition at altitude and through the forests, on unmarked paths. It is not a difficult hike but it takes 4 to 5 hours to reach the top of the jebel el kelaa at an altitude of 1600 m, and admire the breathtaking view. You can climb this mountain on foot from the north of Chefchaouen. Other routes are possible and some are easy and short, but they usually require a local guide.
