During Storm Eleanor in January 2018 I went out to one of the locations they filmed Game of Thrones. It’s in Northern Ireland on the Causeway Coast. The whole shoot was a nightmare to get, being blown over, slipping and keeping water off my lenses. The shots however, capture the dark stormy story of the day. The unexpected bonus was the cloud breaking and shooting pink and purple to fight with the black.

We were on a photo-trip in the Mourne Moutains, Northern Ireland. But a big dark cloud went all over the mountains, ruining everything. The Giant’s Causeway was a two hours drive from there, but because we came here from Dublin, we were like, “Well, we didn’t came that far for nothing”. So we decided to go. Three hours later, I took this panoramic medium-format like long exposure shot, and couldn’t be more happy with the choice we made.

As sun was setting on the North Coast of Ireland, I wanted to capture the red horizon as a backdrop to the large waves. This photo was taken by lodging the camera in between two rocks, and the long exposure took the craziness of the weather and created a peaceful and magical styled scene.

It was far too windy and cold to have my camera out for more than a few seconds (I’d forgotten my gloves) and I managed to snap this by chance. Machir Bay is on the coast of Islay, Scotland, right by the Kilchoman Farm distillery. The beach was deserted, and the sun came down producing an epic effect through the clouds. I hope to go back there soon with a weather sealed camera!

Walking my dog in the hills overlooking the village where I live, camera in hand, I came across this view & took a random hand held shot with the beautiful Campsie Fells & Arrochar Alps in the background. I really should go back & retake the photo with a tripod next time. Maybe a snowy winter view would be nice.

An early start for a photoshoot on Loch Lomond in the Trossachs National Park for a client. Took a series of quick shots while waiting for the sun to peak over the hills in the distance!
