I volunteer for a mental health organisation and was meant to be meeting one of their service users who I’m helping out. We had planned to go on a photo walk but unfortunately, they didn’t show. I decided to take a few shots anyway and wanted to get some practice shooting buildings.

I went to visit my daughter who lives on the outskirts of Bristol, specifically for the annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta and the Nightglow, when the hot air burners and turned on and off to music. A great spectacle.

Nothing extraordinary about this - just with the extended family, and I loved the way the abandoned floats had clustered down one end of the pool. Almost as if they knew the people had given up on the pool for the day and they only had each other for company.

I love the RAF Red Arrows Display Team, who perform throughout the length and breadth of the UK during the Summer. There are nine Hawk Jets in the team, with each year, two new recruits joining the prestigious team. The practice throughout the Winter at RAF Acroteria in Cyprus. They perform amazing acrobatics, at speed of 600 miles per hour and within 6 feet of each other. This is The Corkscrew, where two of them spiral around the other seven. If you ever get an opportunity to see them, make sure you do!!

This shot was taken at Uffington Castle on a lovely spring evening. I saw my Sister and Dad looking out over Oxfordshire & Wiltshire and thought it would be a good chance to get a shot of them both. I love the silhouette effect I got from it.

We spent a morning trying to find a waterfall, but without any joy, so made other plans. At the end of the very full day we were tired and just wanted to head back to our holiday home, but spotted a sign on the way back which featured the word waterfall. We stopped and did a bit of research, and realising it was only 10 mins walk from the nearest car park, we headed out to find it. We were not disappointed. Even though we were in the middle of the second hottest summer on record (and so there was less water flowing) the waterfall was stunning. This was taken from behind the waterfall. Magical!

A lovely tranquil, sunny day on the Dorset coast, I spotted these two paddle boarders on a calm sea, with nothing around them. It looked so peaceful.

After wandering around in circles around a familiar piece of woodland, shuffling the forest floor and looking up for widow makers, we finally settle on a spot that looks homey. The usual dance begins, we drop our bags, stretch, and walk in opposite directions and gather the materials for a fire. One processes, the other builds, soon enough the woods are filled with the smoky scent of Oak, sizzling steak and laughter. Hearth and Home are made.

This was taken at about 5am as the sun rose over Llyn y Fan Fach in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. We wild camped the night before a few metres from this spot.

After a 5am start and 70 miles of driving we arrived at Durdle Door. The wind was howling as we walked down to the beach in the dark alongside a few other photographers. We’d checked the weather the night before and new there would be a clear sunrise so we sat and waited…

We were walking around Bournemouth beach trying to find some good photo spots. We’d watched the sun go down on the beach and proceeded to leave the beach area, walking past the wheel. I saw the opportunity to take the shot and that’s what I did.

Early morning and the beach is beginning to get busy, alongside Bournemouth Pier in Dorset. The U.K. has some beautiful beaches. Bournemouth has seven miles of gorgeous soft sand. This photo makes me realise how much I love Summertime.

After a heavy night of storms the sea was still foaming and wild. Golden light reflecting on the choppy water. This photo was taken underneath Boscombe Pier Bournemouth along The South Coast of England. It makes me feel lucky to be able to see such beautiful sights.
