The image was taken one of my recent hiking trips to Majorca, in the mountain range Serra de Tramuntana. We went fast-packing, minimalistic gear, no tent .. falling asleep under the stars and waking up experiencing this sunrise. The morning light was motivation enough to leave my cozy sleeping bag to capture the image.

I have been hiking the Serr de Tramuntana mountains in Majorca for the past 20 years. The Penyal des Migdia is the highest climbable mountain without obtaining a license in this mountain range. We set out to climb it for sunset and biwaked on the peak.

As a child, I used to spend nearly all my summer holidays with my aunt in Mallorca, and we used to catch mackerel in a boat and then cook them on board.

This photo was taken in Mallorca. “I don’t fear death so much as I fear its prologues: loneliness, decrepitude, pain, debilitation, depression, senility. After a few years of those, I imagine death presents like a holiday at the beach.” -Mary Roach

As I am exploring Mallorca with 2 of my friends after graduating from german high school, I decided to focus on aerial photos and videos. These serpentines amazed me. It was fun to drive down this road and even more fun to explore it with my drone from above.

So we rented a car and drove to the far north and far south of the island. Sunny but moody, just the way I like it. I took this one with my phone earlier today and edited it with Lightroom for mobile. Couldn’t resist.

I took this photo a few days ago, during my holidays in Minorca, a tiny island where I was born. It’s been almost five years since I left my home now. I stumbled upon this empty shell while I was scuba diving and I asked my girlfriend to hold it so I could take a photo of it. My intention was to capture a bit of the essence of my island: humanity and nature together in the middle of the sea. Poetic but simple at the same time.
