Travel guide of Levada do RiscoOne of the famous "levada" or water way of Madeira island. These water ways are still used today to move water across the island to reach populations and farms and make for great hiking trails. This particular one is called "Levada das 25 Fontes" or water way of the 25 fountains.

Taken during a hike in one of the "levadas" (water ways) of Madeira island. Specifically in the "Levada das 25 Fontes" or water way of the 25 fountains. This particular bird let me get real close to him (about 1.5m) so I could grab this shot as he is looking straight at me.

View from the "Véu da Noiva" or Bride's Veil, a waterfall in the north of the Madeira island, not far from São Vicente. Near the waterfall it's possible to make out the very narrow old road, which is no longer used.

View from the "Véu da Noiva" or Bride's Veil, a waterfall in the north of the Madeira island, not far from São Vicente. This photo was actually taken in a very steep road on the way to a restaurant. Near the waterfall it's possible to make out the very narrow old road, which is no longer used.

Clouds spill over the ridge between two large mountain ranges on the island of Madeira. This is one of 300 images used to create a time-lapse sequence which you can find at https://imagefactory.co/madeira-timelapse/ The images are taken with the fantastic Sony Alpha 7 R ll then processed to bring out the cloudscape and converted into JPEGs for processing into a video using the Panolapse package.

While driving in Madeira we came up to this U turn on the side of a bluff. The clouds were moving faster than any I had ever seen before. We took this with a Mavic Pro drone.

We were driving in the mountains of Madeira after a hike to a waterfall (which will be on my page as well) and we came around a corner to this. A switchback turn with a massive drop and a sea of clouds flowing by as the sunset. This island is truly one of the most unique places in the world thanks to these clouds.

Cabo Girão is such an impressive place, with a height of 580m, it’s the highest cliff of Europe and the third of the world ! It’s a little bit scary to hang on above the emptiness but it’s definitively worth it !
