This is the Yasaka temple, in Kyoto. This is a typical subject for a shot, with its illumitaed lanterns. I decided to try something a bit original, using HDR and converting the image to black and white to highlight the contrast between the elements.
Taken on a sunny day June 2017 at The Gate to Yasaka Shrine Higashiyama-ku Ward, Kyoto.
We found our way through the city streets after traversing through the different temples. There is something nice about seeing the contrast between the serene and bustle of the Kyoto intertwining.
I visited Kyoto, Japan in 2014 and explored several shrines & temples with my friend. I took an interest in the many cats that explored the shrines and took several pictures of them.
This is a photo from my 2014 trip to Kyoto. I remember it was a great day walking around the city with my friend.
Here we were on our way to some of the best Ramen I’ve ever had in my life, the streets were gorgeous. Had to bring out my camera.

An obliga-torii photo of Fushimi Inari’s famous gates in Kyoto, Japan. The day I was at the shrine it was absolutely packed. To get this photo I only had one shot - I literally sprinted as fast as I could in front of a huge group of people on the path so I could get at least one photo without anyone in the frame. Luckily it paid off - I ended up with this picture of the afternoon light trickling through the vermilion torii.

Wondering the tourist attractions of Kyoto, I got lost in the beautiful and quiet streets of Kyoto.
We are on our first trip to Japan and it is everything we imagined plus more. The Japanese are doing it right. I feel at peace looking at this scene.

On her way home. In Gion district in Kyoto, scenes like this are not too hard to find. The lady with the umbrella is a maiko, an apprentice geiko. And do not think that the kimono she wears was chosen at random. It was a perfect match for the time of the year (autumn). Also notice at the way she's walking and her posture. Perfection.

While staying in Kyoto, we visited the Shinto Shrine ""Fushimi Inari Taisha". Was a beautiful place with so many tracks and worship shrines.

Ghosts. The lady with the flowers in her hair is a maiko. That is an apprentice geiko. And since this is Kyoto, it's "geiko", not "geisha". Geisha operate in Tokyo. Geiko are becoming becoming more and more rare, so it looked appropriate to photograph them as ghosts, fading away in their habitat.
Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺, literally "Temple of the Golden Pavilion"), officially named Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺, literally "Deer Garden Temple"), is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. It is one of the most popular buildings in Kyoto, attracting many visitors annually. It is designated as a National Special Historic Site, a National Special Landscape and is one of 17 locations making up the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto which are World Heritage Sites.

⛩️ Sanctuary of Fushimi Inari-taisha ⛩️ To get to the fox sanctuary, 233 meters above sea level, you walk through a 4 kilometer trail that runs under hundreds of sacred portals (or gates), better known as Torii. The path takes a few hours, but once at the top, satisfaction is immense 😎
