In the summer heat, we welcomed the cool coverings of the bamboo plants. Off to the side, before the main path, I found the darkness of the grove a compliment to the bright sun outside and took a photographer of these plants.

Another perspective on the famous Arashiyama bamboo forest in Kyoto. I went there early in the morning to get around the tourist crowds. Beautiful and calm place to be 😌

We got kicked out from this temple because it was already closed when we got there, but on our way to the exit we had a peaceful moment when we found this statue and some monks started chanting inside the building.

Back in December of 2013, I found myself in Kyoto, and one stop I had to see was the famous Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji or officially, Rokuon-ji). Its a popular Zen Buddhist temple which is visited by many all year round. I can say with certainty that it did not disappoint.

… well. There`s problem with the beautiful places around the world. Too many tourists. I`m part of the problem, I know. ;) With a bit of luck and a few minutes to queue up, you can take a photo of the beautiful Japanese gardens and buildings. But please imagine, what you can`t see in the picture: hundreds of tourists are just waiting behind me to take exactly the same picture. Most of them doing smartphone selfies of cause ;)

The Golden Palace temple at Kinkakuji. The old slide film just really do this one justice. A beautiful spot. || shot on slide film, 1989, scanned on Nikon CoolScan 4000.

We found our way through the city streets after traversing through the different temples. There is something nice about seeing the contrast between the serene and bustle of the Kyoto intertwining.

I visited Kyoto, Japan in 2014 and explored several shrines & temples with my friend. I took an interest in the many cats that explored the shrines and took several pictures of them.

⛩️ Sanctuary of Fushimi Inari-taisha ⛩️ To get to the fox sanctuary, 233 meters above sea level, you walk through a 4 kilometer trail that runs under hundreds of sacred portals (or gates), better known as Torii. The path takes a few hours, but once at the top, satisfaction is immense 😎

If you use my work, I would really appreciate credit. It helps me grow and provide more content to share with you all for free! Please credit: www.instagram.com/igcait. An obliga-torii photo of Fushimi Inari’s famous gates in Kyoto, Japan. The day I was at the shrine it was absolutely packed. To get this photo I only had one shot - I literally sprinted as fast as I could in front of a huge group of people on the path so I could get at least one photo without anyone in the frame. Luckily it paid off - I ended up with this picture of the afternoon light trickling through the vermilion torii.
