This is probably the best view from any hotel that I’ve stayed at to have breakfast. What better start to the day than to overlook the Bay Of Naples and see Mount Vesuvius. Whilst the breakfast was absolutely superb, the view was the icing on the cake. The person sat at the breakfast table, is my wife.

Vallone dei Mulini, a flour mill set behind the Piazza Tasso in Sorrento, Italy. The valley it sits in originates from the release of waters into a tufa plain about 37,000 years ago, following the eruption of the Campi Flegrei. This mill is around 700 years old.

Instagram: @danjrusso This was from my trip to Italy, France and Spain. This was my first time in Positano and the views took my breath away. This quickly became my favorite place on earth. For more pictures like this, follow me on Instagram @danjrusso

The town of Positano, is on the Amalfi Coast, Italy. There is a steep climb down to the harbour of 1,700 steps. My wife & I climbed down them, not realising that the local bus we were on, actually would have dropped us a little nearer. We were not disappointed when we eventually made it to the bottom. Whilst it was busy with tourists, as it was June, Positano is charming. Not wishing to climb back up the 1,700 steps to get to the top, especially as it was 35C, my wife and I decided to catch a boat to Capri and then another to Sorrento, where we were staying. This was taken from the boat.

I took this photo before I went with my family up this same mountain over the “Path of the Gods” trail on the Amalfi Coast. I figured I would take a photo of the mountains as a reference that “The trail won’t be as ominous as it looks in this image.” Funnily enough, when we reached the trail, the sky’s cleared and it seemed like I was right.

Back in November 2016, my Fiancée and I headed to the Pompeii Excavation Site. I had been here when I was 15, back in 2005, but they’ve opened up SO MUCH more of the site since - I wasn’t prepared for the huge walk around the site haha, very warm day too. I’ve used one of Annie Spratt’s presets to give this photo a bit of extra depth, looks pretty good I think!

A twenty-day cruise around the Western Mediterranean sea, this was the last photograph I took in the last stop I visited. It probably is my favorite photograph I’ve taken so far, in maybe my favorite place on earth: Capri.

January 28. 7.06 AM. Molise - Italy: my Homeland. We were finally arrived: Morrone Delle Rose: 2310 altitude feet. Today however has been very hard: we had departed preparing us for conditions of fresh snow seen the last days of snowfall, but snow had left the place to the ice. It’s been hard, but after 4 hours of scaling the show seen from up there has repaid everything: to west the gulf of Naples was perceived with the waves of the sea burnt of red by the first rays of the twilight with Capri and Ischia that timidly appeared. To east the adriatic sea was clear as the ice that surrounded us.

The little town of Castelmezzano, in south Italy, in a wonderful January 2017 night, after snowly days. That night the temperature was about -12°, but, watching the brightness of stone houses, I felt the sweetly warm sensation to have the hands in front of a burning coals brazier.
