Before we went to Iceland we had seen impressive photos of a canyon south of Vik called Fjaðrárgljúfur. Looked really interesting so we decided to go and see what it is all about. And yes, Fjaðrárgljúfur was really breath taking. You need to make a stop here if you are in the area.

Roads in Iceland meant only for 4x4s are known as “F Roads” - which we discovered in our non 4x4 sedan attempting to get to our place to stay for the night. The nice drive was the upside.

Mostly hidden and less known, Fjallsarlon is a beautiful glacial lake in the Vatnajokull National Park area, in southern Iceland. That day it was so windy that the boat tours were canceled.

We visited Fjallsárlón at the end of the day after our boat tour at Jökulsárlón and, as we approached the glacier, this scene of a giant wall of ice disappearing into the clouds felt very Game of Thrones-esque. ❄️Read more details about Fjallsárlón on our website - https://globecityguide.com/destinations/europe/iceland/attractions/fjallsarlon

A freezing cold night camping on the ice beach next to Jökulsárlón was completely worth it to wake up to this view. Every where we turned in Iceland made us feel like we were visiting another planet!

The glaciers of Iceland are receding, these are broken pieces that wash out to sea only to be washed back up onto the black sand beach. They nearly glow against the black sand like diamonds.

A first visit to Jokulsarlon ice lagoon in Iceland and my first sight of a glacier. The scale of the landscape was beyond comprehension as the ice stacks tumbled off into the distance. Being able to get up close to the icebergs are they drifted out via the lagoon and washed back to the black sand beach was a moment of reflection. Featuring Timberland rucksack.

During my trip in Iceland I stopped at Jökulsárlón lake, it was quite early in the morning and even thought when I arrived I was almost alone, just a couple of minutes or so and crowds of people arrived. However that blue. Never seen a blue so blue. There’s no picture in the world that can describe this amazing landscape.

A beach I could spend hours and hours on (and I did ;)): The beach near Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon in Iceland, also called diamand beach (no explanation needed). While it’s beautiful to see these ice blocks getting washed back up on the black sand, it’s also heart-breaking to know that climate change is the reason behind the phenomenon. Beauty is found not only in big things, but also in what we most often forget to look at. This little ice glacier was found on the shore of the diamond beach in Iceland. We bothered to look down at it and took the most beautiful shot of the day.

a shot I like a lot from a very miserable rainy day I had to dry the lens after each shot and put my mini umbrella over the camera to give some protection. the good part the color of the ice was very intense

On the south side of Jökulsárlón you will find a beach where the most beautiful diamonds (glacier ice) melt away on the beach or break under pressure of the waves from the rough Icelandic ocean. When visiting Jökulsárlón don’t forget to visit the beach your eyes will be amazed.

Growing up in Australia I had never seen big floating icebergs like this before. It was an incredible sight, we spent the whole afternoon running around trying to get the best shots from the shore and above with the drone.

Our last stop for the day was the really beautiful diamond beach, an image that does not need any filters or color corrections stuns you because it kind of looks like valuable stones but is just ice.

Landmannalaugar, Iceland - one the most beautiful places in Iceland. The drive to this place via the F-Roads, the sceneries, the numerous lakes, snow capped mountains, etc… all of this just adds fuel to the fire.

Hiking to extremes on Iceland’s Laugavegur Trail Hiking in Iceland evokes a sense of freedom that reaches an unparalleled magnitude. As you follow hiking trails flanked by bold rock formations and purple Arctic flora, you realize that Iceland’s mighty nature stands before you, unaltered by humans, just as it has for thousands of years.

Driving along Route 1 in Iceland was an incredible experience. Every corner revealed something that took our breath away. As the designated driver and only keen photographer, I stopped the car many time to capture scenes like this. This looks like the mountains are inviting and leading you into it’s treacherous wilderness beyond.

Midnight walk to the lake in Icelandic highlands. Taking a picture of myself again....after running down to the lake in those 10sec that i had with time triger. I put a bit exposure up and contrast. The picture has also hdr over, because lifting shadows didnt do much, since it is a very dark picture to start with. Picture looks a bit magical, but reality was also nice that evening

Driving the flat pass through Þjóðvegur, Iceland, we happened upon a group of wild horses. After shooting for 5-10 mins I spotted this little ruined house and wen’t to take a quick snap of it. It seemed like a filthy juxtaposition in the middle of all of this untouched beauty. Surprisingly there was one more horse, tucked away inside and sheltering himself from the wind and cold.

Went exploring a bit into the highlands, when i found a spot to park…walked around and got this shot. At the back you can see a glacier which comes from eyjafjallajokull . That is the volcano that erupted in 2010 and set Iceland back on map for a while. Not everybody liked that since they were stranded on airports :)
