Travel guide of DettifossThrowback to one of the spots that I felt so exciting when I was in Iceland shooting photos. I give you guys one of the landscapes near to Dettifoss, the “Satan’s Fall”. If you’ve seen “Prometheus”, you know what I’m talking about. The area is covered with a lot of rocks and makes it really hard to walk on, which makes it feel desolate and fits to the name of devil. This photo is shot with Sony A99 and color grading with “Dunkirk” luts.

After driving for 5 hours through the total whiteout of an Icelandic blizzard, the weather finally cleared and the remote barren tundra of Northern Iceland was before us.

Ok, it smells terrible, but., let’s be honest.. Those colors, that sky.. It’s just amazing! This was one of the landscapes that impressed me the most while in Iceland.. Those colors were just surreal.. Unfortunately I have been able to spend there just an hour (more or less) because of the smell but that location was beautiful.. The weather wasn’t good at all but it helped creating that setting that, after all, was awesome..

Iceland has a vast and varied landscape, but no parts are quite as desolate or mystifying as the northern parts of the island. This was taken in Myvatn, during what would still technically be considered “springtime.” The fields of volcanic rock covered by silently falling snow transform the landscape into some kind of beautiful, yet alien territory.

When the humpback was hunting for food, he was talking to us. We could hear him perfectly, when we stopped our motor of the boat. This picture was taken in the big bay near Husavik in Iceland. It’s only one of many photos.

Goðafoss, the Waterfall of the Gods, is one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland. In winter, this waterfall is absolutely incredible to see, and altogether impossible to photograph. The spray from the falls was freezing the second it hit my lens. I spent 6 hours here, and some of that time was spent taking photos.

This is Godafoss. We were driving in the northern parts of Iceland somewhere near Akureyri and Dettifoss. The North really is sheer wilderness. This is one of the must see waterfalls of Iceland, couldn’t drive by without stopping to get a few shots.

Godafoss is one of the largest and most powerful waterfalls in Iceland. This specific shot was incredibly difficult to get. Right next to the water, the mist was constantly being kicked up onto the lens and it was -35 degrees with the wind chill. After spending 3 hours in this location, I could literally break the ice off of my jacket in sheets. Powerful, treacherous, and absolutely magical.

The beautiful thing about Iceland is most of the waterfalls are easily accessible right on the Iceland ring-road. A well spent evening with the amazing view from both sides of the falls.

Driving along Route 1 in Iceland was an incredible experience. Every corner revealed something that took our breath away. As the designated driver and only keen photographer, I stopped the car many time to capture scenes like this. This looks like the mountains are inviting and leading you into it’s treacherous wilderness beyond.

I’m super excited to start sharing some of the special moments we witnessed during my second visit to Iceland. From the powerful waterfalls, majestic mountains and incredible aurora displays, it was a truly unforgettable adventure. I captured this photo during a beautifully still morning in the shadow of the Vestrahorn, a famous mountain in the south-east of Iceland. After a storm almost blew us away we persevered and waited out for 24 hours to enjoy this calm that followed.
