I spent the a cloudy stormy morning on the pier waiting to take this longer exposer, just hoping it would clear enough for some colour. If you look closely there is a ghost seagull on the right railing

I was on night 2 of a backpacking trip on the Juan de Fuca trail in British Columbia watching the sun go down behind the trees and this rock I was sunning myself on earlier in the day. The waves were crashing up on the shore and I had propped myself up on a large boulder as close as I could get to the water. I was soaked at the end of it all but it was worth it. Such as amazingly beautiful beach and my favourite image to remember that hike.

Every year my wife and I visit family on Vancouver Island. Each morning we wake up and tend to the crab and prawn traps we set out the day before in the bay. We are often greeted by seals and seagulls as we voyage into the water. There is something serene about the water. While we were hauling up our gear I looked and could hardly make out what seemed to be a camouflaged home in the middle of the hills. I’m not sure how they have access to the property… I just know that I’m jealous.

This is one of my favorite photos because it was completely accidental. I was sending this picture to show some people that I was suppose to be meeting up with exactly where I was. However, I fell in love with the elements this photo contains. From the wicker chairs in the front, to the market tents being visible... I admire everything about it.

This log has obviously been drifting for a while before it washed up on this stone beach in Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. It was the color that stood out from the rest of the beach and caught my eye.

At the lake where I spent the most time during my childhood, this particular moment was still one I had never seen before. The combination of sun and fog was spectacular as it danced among the layers of forest that sat above the lake.

We got lucky with the weather and the timing as it was November in Vancouver, which often means cloudy skies. This day the sky was clear and when we decided to take a walk on the Iona Spit Trail the timing worked out perfectly as we headed back the sun had just set. The water was calm and there were many cranes on the water.

We never thought that riding a ferry would be such an exciting part of the trip, cause till now we thought of them more of a way to transport yourself on the other shore. But apparently, we have a thing for boats and no seasickness 🌊

We don’t get nearly enough clear days in Vancouver, but when we do the views everywhere are spectacular. This photo was taken from the beach just north of the University of British Columbia campus.

Herons regularly fish along the shores of Vancouver but on this warm August Sunday the tide was out in the afternoon so the beaches will filled with playing dogs and children, making much fewer place for the herons to fish. I found this one a ways from the popular beaches fishing peacefully till I bothered him by snapping some photos.

Coming back from salmon fishing at sunset the sunset lit Vancouver as the moon rose above the city, this was one of the last nice days before the clouds of winter came into the city.

I had just come home from a long day at work, and needed some time to just take in the beauty of this city. I struggled to find parking, worrying I would lose the last of the light for the evening. I wandered around Olympic Village (where this shot was taken), and ended up finding this… only to realize I forgot my tripod. I quickly set my camera down on the uneven ground, and made a makeshift “stand” by levelling out the camera with the strap… And the shot captured the essence of Vancouver beautifully: a cityscape surrounded by beautiful mountains and the ocean grasping at its shores.

I took this photo on my first year in Vancouver when I was crazy in love with the city. Everything seemed so beautiful and full of life, hope and opportunity. It was a city in which I believed everything was possible. I took this photo during the first meetup and first photo walk I ever attended. As the housing crisis grew and years went by, Vancity’s colours started fading away. I never got to see its colours like this again.

I was in Vancouver, BC visiting a college, and my family and I decided to spend the day in Stanley Park. Near the end of the day, as the sun was starting to go down, we walked onto Lions Gate Bridge, and I saw a sliver of light shining on the lighthouse below us, so I pulled out my camera and took a shot before it disappeared.
