Nature reserve in Joffre Lakes Trail, Canada

As a native New Englander, I’ve spent a decent amount of time in the mountains of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Western Massachusetts. I’ve been hiking and camping since I was just a small kid. Of course, the Appalachian Mountain Range isn’t the tallest or most extreme in the world, but they’re still amazing and I call them home. However, this past September I had the opportunity to travel to Whistler, British Columbia for a company-wide retreat. During which, I experienced a totally different wilderness in the Coast Mountain Range of Canada.

Landmark in Vancouver, Canada

I had just come home from a long day at work, and needed some time to just take in the beauty of this city. I struggled to find parking, worrying I would lose the last of the light for the evening. I wandered around Olympic Village (where this shot was taken), and ended up finding this… only to realize I forgot my tripod. I quickly set my camera down on the uneven ground, and made a makeshift “stand” by levelling out the camera with the strap… And the shot captured the essence of Vancouver beautifully: a cityscape surrounded by beautiful mountains and the ocean grasping at its shores.

Bridge in Montréal, Canada

"Topa you down to fly?" The only answer to that is hell yea. After complaining about all the traffic, my friend picked up from downtown Montreal to go fly. To be honest I was scared out of my mind, but I had to live the experience. We met our pilot, cleaned the plane, added fuel and their we were, up in the skies of Montreal. It was difficult not taking pictures every second, but it was a must to appreciate the constantly revealing landscapes in front of our eyes. The emotions felt on this adventures were unreal, especially when the plane dropped …

Recreational fishing in Yoho National Park, Canada

We started hiking the Iceline trail with every intention of finishing it, but the weather had other plans. Rain, hails, snow - the further we hiked along the exposed and rugged trail, the more unpredictable the weather got. So we decided to turn back and cut off the trail to head to Yoho Lake instead. Taking cover under the massive pine trees, the rain slowly tapered off until it stopped all together leaving the lake with a glasslike surface that allowed not only for reflections of the trees and mountain, but all of our thoughts as well. “Model” - @dannykashh

Shore in Colombier, Canada

- Part of a 30 days streak of Unsplash uploads - This photo dates back from my road trip on the North Shore in Québec in 2015. As we were trying to go as up north as possible for a chance to catch some northern lights, we stopped by a rest area by the road and by the river. I had had my DJI Phantom 3 Pro for only a couple of weeks, but was already in love with my new tool. The majestic landscapes only got more breathtaking when taken from dozens of feet up in the sky. Landmark in London, Canada

On a self-imposed photo walk, I went up to a parking garage to check out the view. Once up there, I had to take some photos of the city around me. After shooting some images I went to leave but hit the washroom in the building first (it’s like a small little mall). As I was leaving the washroom, a security guard came storming in the washroom and then made a quick u-turn after me. Oh, boy was I scolded for taking some photos up on the parking garage. I’m banned from going on their property and taking any pictures now - apparently. It’s a tough call - ask for permission or ask for forgiveness.

Landmark in Mount Royal Chalet, Canada

Every year Montreal host L’International des Feux Loto‑Québec, it’s an international fireworks competition in which major companies, representing their respective country, provide the opportunity to see the latest techniques and innovations in the field of pyrotechnics. knowing that that day was China with The Butterfly Lovers as a theme. So I took my bike and rode up to the Chalet was a painful hill for those who know the city. Once there I wasn’t expecting that many people but the view is always worth a while, hopefully I arrived 2 hours earlier which got me to chose the perfect spot.

Jogging in Edmonton, Canada

Many players at the World Cup got their start in the streets of the towns and cities they grew up in. Before the money, before the fame, and before the glory, their games were played on roads, pavements, and small fields. There was no celebrity status involved: they played for the love of the game. It brought them into another own world, and for a few moments, they could share the world with those around them. While our family went up ahead, it was just the boy and the ball: for a few moments, I got to step into the world that so many individuals around the world live and breathe in.

Highland in West Vancouver, Canada

While driving to Whistler/Blackcomb on a late Friday evening with the hope of taking pictures for the weekend, the roads were deserted and the sun was setting. The highway, Interstate 90, offered few clear views of the surrounding area. As I came around a curve approaching Anvil Island, a brief opening of a view lended itself to see the bay converging with the mountains with the light fading fast. I stood on a jersey barrier the width of a balance-beam off Interstate 90 balanced with the camera over my head and the viewfinder tilted down to frame the shot. Maybe 50% luck, 50% balance.

Hill in Canmore, Canada

We were driving through Canmore, Alberta, on our way to Banff National Park. I was overwhelmed by the number of mountains surrounding us; it was the first time I had seen such natural gigantism right in front of me. With the clouds being scattered here and there, and speeding down a high way, it was very difficult to capture the beauty I was seeing with my own eyes through my camera. But as the clouds broke apart over, one particular mountain’s rocky slope and dense tree-covering were illuminated, and I knew that this was the mountain that was worth a quick stop.

Glacial lake in Peyto Lake, Canada
