About this picture
This was in Boulder on a bitter winter’s morning. I had literally just got my first full-frame camera the day before (Canon 6D) and this was my first opportunity to take some pictures. I was up early and walked across the railroad tracks (or railway line as we say here in Britain!). It took me a while to realise the train was approaching sufficiently slowly that I could stand on the tracks safely and get some shots.
I love the Rocky mountains rising out of the mist.

- We saw this little canyon from the car and walked up to explore. It was simply amazing. It didn’t go too far back, but far enough that it was pretty isolated from the main canyon where the road was. As I was walking out I saw the treeless branches against the fall color and knew I had to capture it with the reflected light of the rocks. Southern Utah is one of the most fascinating places on the planet. I return every year.
