This was a very busy sanderling, working the receeding waves in search of a tasty treat. They delighted us as they ran from the waves and then quickly ran back as the wave receded.

- I had set up my camera to take sunset pictures on the beach at a pier in Panama City Beach. It was a record cold spell there, and I was freezing so as soon as the sun set I headed back indoors. As I was walking down a sidewalk hurrying to get inside and get warm, I glanced back and saw this stunning afterglow. Set up the tripod and camera fast as I could and got a couple of shots before it all disappeared.
