Slaithwaite, locally Slawit, is a village within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies in the Colne Valley, lying across the River Colne and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, approximately 5 miles south-west of Huddersfield.But it also has a small but fully functional Infants school called Whilberleigh, as well as having a Secondary School, with the same Name as the Valley it lays within Colne Valley Secondary School.
