Batuan is a village in Bali, Indonesia. It is noted for its artwork and style of painting which originated in the village in the 1930s and has since emerged into a major Balinese artistic style, known as a Batuan painting.

About this picture

This is Bali's most beautiful and popular village temple. This temple is part of the three major temples in Bali. However, what makes it a popular stop is the traditional Balinese design complete with split gates, stone guardians, and shrines. This temple was built in 1020 AD as was mentioned in the historical records of the region. There is no entrance fee to visit. However, be respectful as this is a living temple that is used by the villagers today.
