Bonavista is a town on the Bonavista Peninsula, Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Unlike many Newfoundland coastal settlements, Bonavista was built on an open plain, not in a steep cove, and thus had room to expand to its current area of 31.5 km².

About this picture
We were hunting for icebergs in Bonavista, Newfoundland. We were told a big one had been spotted just off the coast the day before. We drove into town and the locals directed us to the lighthouse. The iceberg had drifted off far into the ocean, and was just a speck of white on the horizon. It didn’t really matter – the lighthouse and the park around it were beautiful regardless.
