Guanajuato is in central Mexico, northeast of Mexico City. It is located in a basin of the Sierra Madre Occidental. Guanajuato is a city known for its unique allure, as evidenced by its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Guanajuato has some of the finest examples of baroque architecture. You can visit the churches of La Compañía and La Valenciana, which are masterpieces of the Mexican churrigueresque style. You can also simply stroll through the narrow streets and at every corner you will find a small square with cafes and a fountain. It's a really charming city, with very interesting architecture.
