Spelled in two ways, Mount Rinjani or Mount Rindjani is a volcano in southern Indonesia located on the island of Lombok. Named "Gunung Rinjani" in Indonesian, this volcano culminates at more than 3500 meters of altitude and is the second highest volcano in the country after Kerinci. Massive, it occupies the third of the North of the island and consists of a caldera occupied by a crater lake, Lake Segara Anak and Barujari, a volcanic cone still active. This cone was made during the sixteen eruptions of the volcano recorded since 1847. It still emits lava flows that can spill into the crater lake. Included in the Gunung Rinjani National Park, the mountain offers multiple hiking opportunities on its slopes. But beware, its ascent is tiring but you will be rewarded by the panoramic view of the island!
