Cappadocia is your destination if you like unique natural landscapes. This region is well known for its fairy chimneys (volcanic landscapes) but it also fascinates by its troglodyte dwellings. Prepare to be amazed. Cappadocia has some of the most incredible landscapes in Turkey. The region has been the scene of significant seismic and volcanic activity, whose cataclysmic successions combined with the hard work of erosion over thousands of years have resulted in these unique landscapes: a succession of canyons, gorges or fairy chimneys, the most distinctive formations of Cappadocia. This extraordinary scenery is perfectly illustrated by the valley of Gorëme, classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The valley, which has become a national park, is home to a large number of churches, usually built in the rock by Christian monks: the well-preserved rock paintings are among the most impressive testimonies of Byzantine religious art of the early Middle Ages. Contrary to popular belief, Cappadocia does not have an arid climate. Sun lovers will find their happiness between mid-June and mid-October with very sunny days and mild evenings. The best time of the year in Cappadocia is however between the end of May and the beginning of July. There the place is in its best colors and you can find flowers everywhere.
