The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. It was originally constructed as a small fortress in AD 889 on the remains of Roman fortifications, and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the mid-13th century by the Nasrid emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar of the Emirate of Granada, who built its current palace and walls.

🏰 Historic site spots 🗼 Landmark spots 🏘️ Town spots 🏰 Palace spotsIf you are traveling to Spain, a visit to the Alhambra is a great idea to help you discover Islamic culture and ancient Greek and Roman architecture. The Alhambra Palace is considered the pearl of Islamic architecture in Europe, one of the famous tourist attractions in Spain and has been recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Located on the top of Assabica hill in the southeast of Granada city, Alhambra castle (also known as Alhambra fortress) was built in the 13th century with beautiful European architecture.
The entire construction includes a palace and fortress of the Moroccan kings of Granada in southern Spain. It was once the residence of the Muslim rulers of Granada and their courts. Alhambra Palace is located on Sabika hill 720m long and 220m wide. The main materials for building the palace are brick, concrete and cement. Granite has a very limited use, almost exclusively for paving roads and making columns. Meanwhile, walls, ceilings, floors are made of wood, ceramics and plaster. Many interior and exterior spaces are covered with a special ceramic tile capable of reflecting and changing color according to light.
It is not in its immortality, grandeur or richness, that the castle has any stylistic fusion through the ages. Alhambra's charm lies mainly in the decoration with a harmonious design between ancient Muslim, Greek and Roman architecture.
Centuries have passed, Alhambra castle still retains its magnificent but equally classic and sophisticated beauty. Every corner of the castle is a reminder that, to build this place, how much blood, sweat and tears of the Muslim people of Granada in the past. Each story told on the journey of visitors to visit and discover will make everyone feel like they are sinking into a space filled with memories and nostalgia. However, being able to visit this place will make your Spain travel journey more meaningful. If you have the opportunity to come to Spain, do not miss the city of Granada and this legendary Alhambra castle.
