🗼 Landmark ⛰️ Cliff 🏖️ Ocean 🏘️ TownNestled in the north-east of Spain, in the region of Catalonia, discover the town of Cadaqués.
Cadaqués is a very charming fishing village, as rich in history as in picturesque landscapes.
Punctuated by coves and beautiful green areas, the village is not just another seaside destination, it is also full of history.
Indeed, it is famous for having been much appreciated by the famous Spanish painter Salvador Dali where he lived.
So, you can start your stay by visiting the House of Salvador Dali which is now a museum open to all. In the museum you will find many of the artist's works: from paintings to sculptures. The fields of olive trees and vines, as well as the view of the sea, add to the charm of the painter's former home.
If you like art, continue your cultural journey and visit the Museo de Cadaqués. The museum displays a variety of works by popular artists such as Salvador Dali and Richard Hamilton. The works presented have been inspired by the village of Cadaqués and its history.
The Natural Park of Cap de Creus is also a must-see in Cadaqués. The reserve is full of different ecosystems, with rocky areas but also a lot of greenery like small pine forests. Your walks will be enhanced by the beautiful coves in the park, and you can also take a refreshing dip in the clear waters. You can also see a variety of animals such as eagles, falcons, lizards and frogs.
The old town of Cadaqués is very interesting to visit. With its cobbled streets and colourful buildings, Cadaqués immerses you in a magical and historical architecture, especially in the street Es Call, where not far away is the church of Santa María, dating from the 15th century.
Moreover, the village is also very lively. At certain times of the year, numerous events such as festivals and celebrations are organised to bring together locals and tourists alike. It is an ideal destination for families.
In Cadaqués, there is the Fiesta de San Sebastian which takes place on 20 January. This consists of a trip to Ermita de San Sebastián, located at an altitude of 400m, where a mass is held followed by a traditional dance performance.
In February the Carnival of Cadaqués takes place, where many groups of artists and locals parade in disguise.
There is also ¡Un americano en Cadaqués! a fair held at the beginning of June. The village is filled with stalls selling handicrafts and locals dress up in period clothing.
It all depends on what you are looking for when you go to Cadaqués.
Any time is a good time to go. You can go hiking and kayaking all year round, although it is more pleasant to do so in summer.
Also, if you're looking for fun, choose a time when there's a festival or carnival, for example.
