Zambales is a province of the Philippines located in the western part of the island of Luzon in the region of Central Luzon. The capital of the province is the city of Iba. The region's natural attractions such as white sand beaches, creeks, islands, and famous mountains make the tourism industry very important for the economy of the region.
The region is best known for its mountain range, The Zambales Mountains, which stretch for 120 square miles (300 square km). The Zambales Mountains culminate at the High Peak (2,037 meters above sea level) but Mount Pinatubo is the most popular in this mountainous region, whose 1991 eruption killed many people and was the second most powerful of the 20th century. It is the center of many excursions. Today it has interesting landscapes covered with volcanic mud and the center of attraction is its beautiful crater lake whose waters change to green, green-blue, or blue depending on the season and temperature. It is considered a very popular trekking destination in Zambales.
Potipot Island is a must-see in Zambales, it is a small island with a fine white sandy beach and crystal clear waters. The island has many trees that provide good shade for camping sites. There are no resorts on the island, but you can find a few cottages there. It is a paradise island for beach lovers who want to stay away from the rush of the city. Anawangin Cove is another famous campground in the province. It is a beautiful crescent-shaped cove with Agoho trees and mountains forming a beautiful landscape. Swimming, hiking, camping, stargazing, and campfires are fun activities to do here.
