Learn More about Arendal

Arendal is a Norwegian port city located in the county of Agder and the region of Sorlandet. Norway is more famous for its impressive fjords than for its coastline lined with archipelagos and idleness. However, the golden triangle of southern Norway, between Arendal, Risor, and Lyngor, has many advantages to offer. Popular destinations for Norwegians for their idyllic setting, this authentic trio remains the ideal itinerary to discover a less touristy side of the Scandinavian territory.

In Arendal, the present meets the past. From the charming district of Tyholmen to the bustling harbor of Pollen, Arendal does not fit neatly into the archetype of a classic seaside resort. The possibilities are as numerous as the diversity of the landscapes of this southern Norwegian coast. When arriving in Arendal, a short visit to the oldest and best-preserved area of this municipality is a must: Tyholmen. Proud of its traditional past, Tyholmen promotes the preservation of heritage while welcoming modernity. Trinity Church is a must-see in the city, this cathedral with its distinctive red color is visible from all parts of the city. It rises so elegantly and majestically in the city center that it is a very important part of Arendal's urban landscape.

For cultural outings, the city has many museums ideal for family outings, Vitensenteret Sorlandet Arendal or the Kuben - Aust-Agder Museum Og Arkiv ideal to introduce children to the history of Arendal.

To admire the Norwegian landscape, what better than a walk in nature, the Hove and Spornes trail on the coast of Tromoya, is an excellent place to relax. Swim, take a walk, or just sit and watch the ocean.
