Discover our travel guide of White Island in New Zealand made of pictures from travel influencers and photographers.
White Island is reputed to be New Zealand's only active marine volcanic area, spotted with numerous bubbling mud pits, green crater lakes, extremely hot vapors that reach 800°C, amazing multi-colored rock formations, abundant yellow sulfur crystals, hot thermal currents and lava bombs - it bubbles, hisses, steams and vapors everywhere around. In the past, there was a sulfur mining factory, now its remains can be seen near the edge of the crater. The extremely bizarre white island is located 50 km off the coast. It rises a thousand feet into the sky, stretches 2 km across and can be reached by boat or helicopter. Tours are offered throughout the year, depending on weather conditions, but the best time to experience a 6-hour adventure and discover the wonder of nature is certainly the warm season (September - April). The weather is more favorable, and also the blue sky in contrast with the splendid colors of the island allows visitors to take exceptionally picturesque photos.
