Nestled between the cities of Ozoud and Fez, Ifrane is a refreshing haven surrounded by natural greenery located at an altitude of 1,713 meters. Entering its national park, the very heart of the region, you are instantly surrounded by its wildlife and floral diversity. Thanks to the region’s leaders’ decision to create a 53,000-hectare national park, Ifrane houses the largest cedar forest in the world, which is part of its touristic attraction. Enjoy a charming tour around the Vitel spring and its waterfalls, walk along the river for a few hundred meters and discover the forest of maple and poplar trees that the spring waters flow down. You can also take advantage of the summer to be offered a short horseback ride to reach the waterfalls. Located in the Middle Atlas Mountains, this city is characterized by its European urbanism, moreover the abundance of springs and lakes in this region and its steep-roofed chalets are surprisingly reminiscent of Switzerland. Once in Ouzoud, you can visit the medieval village of Tanermelt or watch Magot monkeys that have settled near the waterfalls and caves of Ouzoud. The human presence in the region dates back to the Neolithic period as evidenced by caves such as those of Tizguite and archaeological remains dating back to prehistoric times, 50,000 years ago. Being the most frequented Moroccan summering center, Ifrane is also a pastoral region and has an experimental station for the study of animal behavior. This destination is a surprising and regenerating change of scenery for landscape lovers, and a tourist pole of choice for hiking, hunting wild boar and its lakes are a must for fishing.
