In the heart of a lively and popular old historical district of Asakusa, the Senso-ji (or Asakusa Kannon) temple is the most revered in Tokyo. Originally, two fishermen found a small gold statuette of the goddess Kannon in their net. The village headman offered his house as a shrine to honor her.
