Learn More about Tōkyō−Tower

The famous white and red Tokyo Tower is located in the Minato district of Tokyo in Japan. It is largely inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Tokyo Tower, visible from all parts of the city, is the symbol of the Japanese capital. It was built in 1958 by the architect Tachu Naito when Japan was emerging as a major world economic power.

This tower is 1,092 feet high (333 meters). To get to the top of the tower, you can either take the elevator or climb the 600 steps to the main platform, which is 492 feet (150 meters) above the ground. If you're lucky, on a clear day you'll be able to see Mount Fuji. If you are not afraid of heights, try standing on a section of the glass floor and looking directly at the ground, about 475 feet (145 meters) below your feet. The upper platform, 820 feet up (250 meters), was renovated in early 2018, adding upside-down mirrors and LED lighting effects to give the impression of floating above the city in a high-tech spaceship.

Tokyo Tower offers several stores and cafés where you can buy snacks, drinks, or a more substantial meal to fuel up for visiting the nearby Zojoji Temple and Shiba Park.

The tower itself is fascinating, but don't overlook its surroundings, which are full of exciting cultural sites. You can discover important traditional temples, museums dedicated to modern art and technology, and soothing parks.

Zojoji Temple is located at the foot of Tokyo Tower, within the huge Shiba Park. Allow yourself time to walk around the park and stop at the treasure gallery and the mausoleum of the Tokugawa shoguns. We also recommend you to visit the museum located on the lower level of the main pavilion of the temple. There you can see a model of one of the destroyed buildings on loan from the British royal family. During your visit, Shiba Park will reveal its many treasures, including small shrines and temples.

During your stay in Tokyo you must go to its most mythical and spectacular place which is the Tokyo Tower, but do not neglect the wonders that are in the surroundings!
