Between Milan, Como and Venice lies another little gem, a jewel in a box called Verona, the famous city highlighted by Shakespeare in his famous play Romeo and Juliet. For architecture lovers, Verona is the city in northern Italy that you absolutely must visit: its arenas, its Roman amphitheater are a symbol. In addition, Lake Garda is nearby. How can you stay in Verona without seeing the famous Juliet's balcony? This house belonged to the Dal Cappello family (hence the connection with a certain Capulet family) and was built in the 12th century. This balcony is a real tourist attraction: all the lovers rush there and the walls are loaded with sweet bills in order to leave an imprint of its passage. The access to the courtyard is free but the visit of the house is not free. Note that you can touch the statue of Juliet in the courtyard, especially her left breast (whose color has changed so much it has been polished by the millions of tourists) because it would be a sign of fertility and eternal love. Don't forget to visit the Piazza delle Erbe, the central square, was already in existence in Roman times, making it the oldest square in Verona: a square where a forum was located and which today is a place of relaxation, a meeting place for all the inhabitants and tourists. To the north of the square you can see the Lamberti Tower, the oldest building in Verona, while in the center of the square you can admire the majestic lion of San Marco (Colonna di San Marco). Whether it is day or night, the piazza delle Erbe is always bustling and lively.
