The lake of Braies, or Pragser Wildsee, is one of the most appreciated tourist destinations in Italy and is famous for its turquoise green color and for the massif of the Croda del Becco which overhangs it, a magnificent natural reserve and the walks around the lake are very appreciated by young and old.

You have to admit it, this lake of Braies is very beautiful. The big trees, the mountains all around, the blue water, the little church, the hut and the red boats... You would think you were in Canada. Among the lakes of the Dolomites, it is surely one of the most beautiful and the accessibility of the Braies lake only increases the popularity of this part of northern Italy.

Hiking in the Dolomites is the best way to discover the beautiful landscape. To walk around the lake of Braies, you don't need to take out your walking shoes. A wide path goes around the lake, suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Allow a little more than an hour for the walk, taking your time. It is a pleasant and easy walk, suitable for family trips. Stop by the lake to admire its beautiful colors, have a picnic and a few splashes before heading back.

Signs indicate a hiking trail that starts at Lake Braies and climbs to the top of Croda del becco, from where you have a great view of the surrounding area and one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites below. The Biella hut (Seekofelhutte) awaits you up there for a well-deserved pick-me-up. For the record, the refuge is located on the border between Trentino-Alto Adige (which includes South Tyrol) and the beautiful Veneto region.

Rent a boat on the Pragser Wildsee, the rental of the famous wooden boats is open during the day, starting at 10 am. Count 12€ for half an hour and a good 20€ for an hour to stroll along the lago di Braies. Certainly a romantic moment. The opening hours are a major constraint since it is the worst time to visit the lake of Braies: between the world and the boat rental, you have to make the right choice!
