Learn More about Positano

Positano is a seaside resort on the Amalfi Coast, near Naples and the famous archaeological site of Pompeii.
The city is built on a hillside on a very jagged relief, whose steep slopes plunge into the deep blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It will be necessary to have good shoes to climb the innumerable irregular and high steps that go up to the top of the village.

The town of Positano is located on the picturesque Amalfi Coast, a Unesco heritage site and a marvel for tourists and visitors. The picturesque alleys, small squares and stairways with handicraft stores to walk through give pleasure to the eyes and to the heart. Positano is a pearl
for those who want to discover the wonderful Divine Coast and spend time away from the chaos of the city. Here the days are punctuated by the sun and the moon that, embedded in the sea, lulls all its inhabitants like a sweet lullaby. It is possible to visit Positano in all seasons, but the best time is in the summer when the city comes alive and you can take a refreshing dip in a small beach or at the main beach of the city.

Walking through the colorful alleys, immersed in a culture smelling of Saracen invasions, surprises even the visitor used to seeing similar pieces of history. In Positano, it is necessary to discover, to look and to get lost in the alleys of the country to appreciate the beauty of a place so charming, smelling of love stories born and lived on the banks of a soft and calm sea. Laces, flip-flops and straw hat: this is how people dress, with lightness and taste. This is the sea fashion of Positan, famous all over the world. The craftsmen continue to engrave the leather, sew the clothes, cover the hats. Everything is produced in Positano, like a logo to be spread in other cities and countries.

The church of St. Mary of the Assumption is one of the most important monuments of the city. It is located in Piazza Flavio Gioia I and it is famous for the Byzantine image of the Virgin Mary, whose origins are linked to the Benedictine monastery of St. Mary, of which only a few traces remain. In the XVIII century the church fell into decline until it was restored between 1778-1783.2004 restoration work in the crypt led to the discovery of the ruins of a Roman villa.

Fornillo beach is the most famous beach of Positano, close to the historical center and well equipped. Not far away there is the large beach with many stores and restaurants. Not to be missed are the beaches of San Pietro Laurito, the cave of La Porta and the beach of Arienzo, but they can only be reached on foot.

Visitors to Positano can not forgot a visit to the Fjord of Fury, where the director Rossellini shot the film Love with Anna Magnani. The fjord was created by the erosion of the torrent Schiato.
