Travel to Bari if you like:
🗼 LandmarkBari is a large coastal city with a lively port and a historic but also a modern centre. It is the capital of the region of Puglia in southern Italy. The old town, called Bari Vecchia, is very pretty.
It's also the second most important city after Naples in southern Italy. It lies on the southeast coast just above the "heel" of Italy.
Bari combines seaside charm with historical appeal. A major Mediterranean cruise port which has always been an important centre of trade and cultural exchange with Europe and the Middle East. Also known for its university town, its old town with its churches, picturesque courtyards and other hidden treasures.
The old town is quite small and all its main sights are easily accessible. Two of the main sights are the Basilica di San Nicola and Bari Cathedral, the Cattedrale di San Sabino.
In addition to its cultural attractions, the city has 40 kilometres of beach on the Adriatic Sea. A visit to Bari is also a great opportunity to lie on the warm sand and swim in the crystal clear waters.
Terranima - Bari, city centre. Authentic Pugliese cuisine in an old-fashioned courtyard reproduced with the trompe l'oeil technique. Pietro Conte, the owner, is a poet, an epicurean and a lover of the land and the products it offers, who waits every day for his customers to treat their taste buds just a few steps from the famous Castello Normanno. THE restaurant not to be missed !
There is a train service to Bari airport and buses throughout the city, but the heart of Bari is easily accessible on foot.
Bari is an excellent starting point for your trip to Puglia. Nearby seaside towns, such as Monopoli or Polignano a Mare, are more suitable for travellers looking for a beach holiday, as Bari's beaches can seem a little industrial.
Make sure your trip to Bari lasts between two full days (for the city's charms alone) and a week or two if you plan to visit Puglia as well.
