Visiting Mount Bromo can be relatively affordable, with transportation, food, and accommodations costing around $50-$100 per day, depending on your preferences. Guided tours range from $30 for a basic sunrise tour to $150 or more for multi-day trekking expeditions.

Learn More about Mount Bromo

Although it is relatively small in comparison to other volcanoes in Indonesia, the magnificent Mount Bromo will not disappoint you with its spectacular scenes and striking scenery.
At 2392 meters above sea level, Mount Bromo is not among the highest mountains in Indonesia, but its extraordinary beauty lies in its incredible setting. Mount Bromo is part of the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park (with an area of 800 km2).

Standing proudly in the vast caldera of the ancient Mount Tengger, Mount Bromo is surrounded by a vast expanse of volcanic sand that exudes a mystical beauty. Mount Bromo and the Tengger area are also home to the Tengger sub-ethnic group who have preserved their ancient traditions and way of life. One can observe the unique indigenous culture and traditions of the "Tenggers" including their rituals and ceremonies.

The ultimate attraction is the spectacular sunrise. From a vantage point on nearby Mount Penanjakan, one can see the magnificent sunrise in the center of the majestic Mount Bromo, while the surrounding mountain ranges create an almost surreal atmosphere. It takes a little over an hour to reach this viewpoint from where your jeep is parked. The sun rises around 5:30 am, so you should plan your hike accordingly, depending on your physical condition. From here you can also see the vast sea of desert sand below. This is where most of the iconic postcard views are taken from.
