Insofar as a passage in this fascinating Indonesian reserve tempts you, here is some information that will enable you to know a little more about the site.

Mount Semeru

Semeru also known as Mahameru, meaning "Great Mountain", is a volcano located in the province of East Java. Rising to 3676 meters above sea level, it is the highest point of the island of Java. Having the distinction of producing a small eruption every thirty minutes, it is among the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. Like most of the volcanoes on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Semeru is a gray volcano. As one of the mountains that make up the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park, climbing this mountain requires planning and especially permission from the National Parks Authority.
Due to its highly active nature, Semeru Mountain is often closed. During the open season, it is possible to access the summit on foot. While exploring the mountain does not require any special technical skills, it is important to note that the final access route is quite grueling, as it involves walking through very unstable volcanic rocks. A hike on Semeru takes several days and usually starts at Ranu Pani Lake.

Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo is a volcano located in East Java, not far from Mount Semeru, and several hundred kilometers south of Surabaya, in the Tengger massif.

Culminating at 2 329 meters above sea level, it consists of a crater of 800 meters in diameter and 200 meters deep. Ideal for your stay in Indonesia, Bromo is surrounded by the Pasir Lau, meaning "Sea of Sand". It appears as a mountain whose summit has been ripped off and whose inner crater permanently emits a sulfurous white smoke, Mount Bromo presents an overall disturbing and supernatural effect, especially when compared to the green valleys around the caldera.
