Travel Tips for visiting Malang

Located in the province of East Java in Indonesia, Malang is a city marked by a colonial past, it was founded by the Dutch at the end of the 18th century. Interested in the culture of coffee, they found in this region the perfect site to make their plantation. Nicknamed by its elders as the "Paris of East Java" because of its wide avenues and tree-lined neighborhoods, the charming city of Malang offers an ideal setting to rest before exploring the volcanoes of Java. Tourists stop there only a few days but do not rush there, which makes the few visits very appreciable. The city has a tropical climate with two seasons, a dry and wet season, it is better to visit the city during the dry season, from August to October. The Mount Bromo is one of the famous tour to do while staying near Malang, you can take a tour to see the sunrise or sunset and admire the beautiful colors of the sky and also the amazing landscapes. The Rainbow Village of Jodipan was once a slum, but university students decided to paint the city with many bright colors to attract tourists. It is a popular place for travelers to take beautiful and colorful pictures. The region is full of waterfalls in the middle of the forest like the Madakaripura Waterfall, as well as typical Indonesian temples. In front of the Malang train station, a long alley shelters about twenty small restaurants where you can eat good Indonesian food for a few dozen rupiahs only. The night market of Malang - Pasar Besar - is a happy mix of fair and street-food stands. You can eat well while watching the children duck fishing and their parents trying to shoot with rifles, all this with music and a festive atmosphere.
