Located in the center of Bali, the town of Ubud is considered the cultural center of the island.
It is a popular place for travelers from all over the world because of its peaceful atmosphere.
The city also offers many activities and attractions. 

As the capital of the arts, the cradle of traditions, and a place of inspiration and creativity, Ubud allows you to immerse yourself in the local customs and discover the rich history and artistic practices on the island.

Thanks to its many sights, Ubud is one of the most visited places in Bali.
It is necessary to spend three or four days to discover this land of escape on foot or by bike and tour its museums and art galleries. Rare are the places where nature and culture blend so well.


Ubud is not a big city, but rather a group of small villages, 14 in total, each with its own identity. 
It has the reputation of being the most peaceful city in Bali, but it cannot be reduced to this serenity.

How to get around Ubud?

How to get around Ubud?

By cab

From Denpasar airport, it is possible to take a cab to Ubud, it takes about 100,000 RP for about 45 minutes and one hour to reach Kuta for about 200,000 RP.

By bemo

The bemo (or collective cab), there are some for regular departures from the airport of Denpasar. This has the advantage of paying less for the trip because it costs about 8000 RP for about 1 hour of travel. They are mostly found in the morning and there are no more after 4 pm. 

By bus

The bus will mostly take it from the airport Denpasar to Ubud but it will stop at the terminal which is not in the center of Ubud (2 km south of Padang Tegal, on Jl. Hanoman just south of the intersection with JL Monkey Forest). It is better to take a cab or bémo to drop you directly to your accommodation.

By motorcycle

Many tourists rent motorcycles (scooters), You can easily find rental agencies in the main streets of Ubud. It is necessary to count between 50 000 RP and 80 000 RP for one day.

By bike

 You can find a bike rental near Jl. Monkey Forest. The price is about 20 000 RP to 30 000 RP for the day.

  • Pura Taman Saraswati Temple

The temple Pura Taman Saraswati is a water palace. The waters of the temple feed the pool covered with lotus flowers.
We can see sculptures representing Dewi Saraswati who is the goddess of Wisdom and Arts and who certainly watches over Ubud. you can be asked to wear a Sarong before entering the temple.

  • Monkey Forest

The Monkey Forest is a tourist attraction in Ubud it is a nature reserve easily accessible. 

If you like animals, you can go there to see the macaques moving freely in the reserve. However, you have to be careful with some macaques that are a bit angry and aggressive towards tourists. 
You can even combine this activity with the sunrise at Pinggan village, you will have a beautiful view of the volcano.

  • Campuhan ridge walk

This walk is a great place to take your kids or to have a romantic walk.
Once out of the city of Ubud we feel very quickly out of place on this path surrounded by greenery, rice fields, and locals.
We recommend this walk, especially at the end of your stay in Ubud.
