🏰 Temple 🏘️ Town ⛰️ Hill 🗼 Landmark 🏞️ Reservoir 🏞️ WaterwayKnown as the city of lakes, Udaipur in India is also sometimes called the Venice of the East. This city has a number of palaces, which are perfect representations of Rajput style architecture. Today, the same palaces have been converted into hotels, which have become the main attraction for tourists and travellers in this city. The city of Udaipur, India, is situated at the bottom of the Aravalli Mountains and is part of the Indian province of the same name. With its temples, gardens, colourful streets and lush Aravalis hills, Udaipur has all the features that make it so charming. The fascinating city of Udaipur in India Udaipur has three interlinked lakes, which are the most popular after the tourist spots of the city: Lake Pichola, Lake Fateh Sagar and Lake Swaroop Sagar. Lake Pichhola was actually created by man in 1362 near the village of Pichola, which gave it its name. Nevertheless, it is quite picturesque as it is surrounded by lush hills, temples and ghats. Most tourists like to take a leisurely boat ride or simply stroll along its shores, while gazing at its azure water. The sunsets over Lake Pichola can also be really beautiful! Lake Pichola and Lake Fateh Sagar are the most popular man-made lakes in Udaipur. A boat ride on Lake Pichola gives a completely new perspective on the city, notably the City Palace. The boats leave from Rameshwar Ghat in the City Palace Gardens (you will have to pay a small fee to enter the City Palace). A one-hour tour costs Rs 400 (€5) for adults (or Rs 700 / €880 at sunset), including a stop at the Jag Mandir (a palace built on an island in Lake Pichola, also known as the Lake Garden Palace). If you want a cheaper option, the boat stand at Lal Ghat offers 30-minute boat trips for Rs 150-250 (depending on the size of the boat) at any time of the day. Jag Mandir, however, is not included. You can also visit the Fateh Sagar Lake by renting a rowing or motor boat at the foot of Moti Magra Hill.
