The city serves as a vacation spot for a large number of Indians who come to enjoy the cool climate of the surroundings. If you are going to Ooty, you should definitely take the Nilgiris Mountain Railway, the route of this train goes through the mountains of the area and gives you incredible views of the region. The city is not really very beautiful but, as often, it is the surroundings which are important and make the attraction of the place. The Nilgiris, the "blue mountains" that surround Ootys are very famous for the tea they produce. The landscapes formed by the tea plantations on the slopes of the reliefs, to which are added immense eucalyptus trees with bluish leaves, are simply magnificent.
