🐾 Wildlife 🏞️ Waterway 🏘️ Town 🌲 Plain 🗼 Landmark 🏖️ OceanTo get to Copenhagen, you can either fly into Copenhagen Airport (CPH), which is the largest airport in the Nordic countries, or take a train or bus from other European cities. From the airport, you can easily reach the city center using public transportation like the metro, train, or bus.
It's a good idea to book some attractions in advance to avoid long queues and guarantee entry. Tivoli Gardens, an iconic amusement park, is a must-visit, and booking tickets online can save you time. If you're an art enthusiast, pre-book your entry to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, which houses an impressive collection of contemporary works.
Copenhagen can be expensive, but there are ways to save on costs. The Copenhagen Card is a great investment, as it offers free access to over 80 attractions, free public transportation, and discounts on restaurants and sightseeing tours. Prices range from €60 for a 24-hour card to €120 for a 120-hour card.
Some of the best things to do in Copenhagen include exploring Nyhavn, the colorful 17th-century waterfront area; visiting the Little Mermaid statue; and strolling through the historic district of Christianshavn. For a taste of Danish history, visit Rosenborg Castle and the Amalienborg Palace, home to the Danish royal family.
Copenhagen offers a wide variety of dining options. For a traditional Danish meal, try Restaurant Schønnemann, which specializes in smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches). If you're in the mood for seafood, Kødbyens Fiskebar is a popular choice. For a more budget-friendly option, consider visiting Torvehallerne, a bustling market with numerous food stalls.

Off the Beaten Path:
For an unusual travel experience in Copenhagen, visit the unique neighborhood of Freetown Christiania. This self-governed community is known for its colorful murals, alternative lifestyle, and relaxed atmosphere. Wander through the car-free streets, visit the local art galleries, and enjoy a coffee at one of the cozy cafes. These urban swimming spots are popular with locals and a great way to experience Danish outdoor culture.
If you have some money to spend, however, book a table at Noma, a world-famous Michelin-starred restaurant - you should book several months in advance if you don't want to be disappointed.
Take some of that sleek Danish design back with you - home decor stores are not hard to find as Danes are big fans of home decor, but if in doubt, check out Illium on Stroget or Design Zoo on Vesterbrogade towards the Friedriksberg area. For last-minute gifts, there are an impressive number of quality stores at the airport; however, they are slightly more expensive than in the city.
There are many things to see in Copenhagen, but the "must-sees" are the Design Museum and the Carlsberg district, where you'll find classy contemporary art galleries as well as the Carlsberg Museum, which you'll round off with a beer tasting.
You should also visit the old meatpacking district for its trendy and creatively decorated bars in Vesterbro, the Buanderie café in Norrebro, which has the most stylish washing machines we've ever seen in the back so customers can grab a homemade smoothie and a slice of delicious carrot cake while waiting for their machine!
Be sure to stop by Tivoli Gardens and check it out. Designed in 1843, this amusement park retains a historic charm intrinsic to its nature - in no way does it resemble Disneyworld in atmosphere or style. Although the Nyhavn area is always crowded with tourists, it is at least worth a visit to see its cobblestone streets and colorful terraced houses. However, whichever route you choose, be sure to cycle it in the summer - easy and cheap to get around, the city is perfectly suited to cyclists.
