The Palace Museum is a national museum located in the Forbidden City in the heart of Beijing. It was established in 1925 after the last Chinese emperor was expelled from his palace and opened to the public. Built from 1406 to 1420, the museum consists of 980 buildings and covers 72 hectares.

The National Palace Museum houses some 697,490 pieces of Chinese art including the largest collection of Chinese handicrafts in the world. The collections include calligraphy, Chinese paintings, ancient books, Qing Dynasty archives, bronzes, jades, ceramics and various collectibles.

These pieces come from the Manchu court and date from the last four Chinese dynasties.
The museum has many objects from the Manchu period, such as lacquerware, sculptures, clocks, porcelain, made by workshops for the exclusive use of the imperial household. The museum also displays treasure boxes for storing these precious trinkets. The collection also includes pieces produced outside the palace that attest to the high level of Chinese craftsmanship, such as the Boat carved from an olive stone.

The museum houses items dating from the Stone Age to the Republican period, to relive the history of China through unique objects, you must to go there !
