🏖️ Beach 🌆 SkylineLocated on the southern tip of China's Hainan Island, Sanya offers several bays with extensive beach resorts. Yalong Bay is popular for its upscale hotels, while Wuzhizhou Island and its coral reefs are recommended for snorkeling, surfing and other water sports.
On an artificial island, the city's large temple complex, Nanshan, is dominated by a 108-meter-high bronze statue of Guan Yin.
Wuzhizhou Island is definitely one of Sanya's most scenic beach destinations. It gets its name from the colorful coral reefs just off the beach, where divers and snorkelers go to see conchs, sea urchins and a multitude of tropical fish.
Back on shore, the island is surrounded by soft white sandy beaches, ideal for sunbathing. In addition, you should also visit the temple dedicated to Matsu, the Buddhist goddess of the sea, and the aptly named Sunrise Rock, where visitors come in the early morning to watch the sun rise from the watery horizon. Several bars and restaurants welcome visitors to the island, and there is a small guesthouse for those who prefer to spend the night.
For the night, head to Luhuitou Park, located on a hill above the waterfront just south of Sanyai. It is one of the island's favorite places to watch the sunset, especially from the observation post on top of Luhuitou Mountain.
Sanya tourism is best for self-help travel. The cost of the tour is high.
