🐾 Wildlife 🏰 Temple 🏞️ LochLocated in the province of Sashatchewan in Canada, Regina is a small, quiet, comfortable, and gentle prairie town full of green spaces
The city is dotted with parks that are green in the summer and white with snow in the winter. They offer year-round outdoor activities right in the center. In addition, Regina is home to several lakes (Lakewood, Lakeridge, etc.) that make the environment extremely pleasant.
Wascana Center is the green lung of the city and is very popular with residents. This large designer urban park in the center of Regina encircles the beautiful Waskana Lake. Spacious, green, and well landscaped, you can picnic, swim, run, bike, boat and walk. It's also a great place for ice skating or cross-country skiing in the winter.
Regina is a university town, therefore there are opportunities to have fun in two neighborhoods in particular: the Wharehouse District bars, a little north of Downtown, houses a series of bars and cafés in old warehouses, which gives it a very underground and not unpleasant aspect. You can drink beer and listen to good live music (go to Bushwakker Brewpub).
Cathedral District is a nice area with cafés and stores, where you can stroll around.
It is fair to ask what kind of cultural life a small city in a large Canadian province can offer. In this field, Regina has made efforts and now has a relatively dynamic infrastructure: the Conexus Arts Centre, a theater, and a concert hall overlooking Wascana Lake, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the first museum in the province, dedicated to the natural history of the region. There are also many small art galleries, of which the Norman Mackenzie Art Gallery is the most interesting.
If you are fascinated by architecture, plan a visit to the Saskatchewan Legislature, which is open 362 days a year. Completed in 1912, this large Beaux-Arts style building evokes the English Renaissance and Louis XVI styles. Highlights include the grand staircase, the rotunda, and the entrance named after the Prince of Wales.
Regina is a quiet and restful city, you will discover activities related to nature in its many parks, but also more cultural visits of its museums and galleries, there is something for all the interests in this charming city.
