Named after one of Queen Victoria's daughters, Lake Louise is the jewel of Banff National Park.
Its crystal clear, turquoise waters come from the surrounding glaciers.

Nestled between towering snow-capped mountains, with the Victoria Glacier glistening in the background,
Lake Louise is considered one of the most beautiful places in Canada, and should not be missed on any trip to Western Canada.
In winter, it is transformed into a gigantic piece of shiny frozen glass, to the delight of skaters!

It is impossible to spend a few days in Banff National Park without a stop at the famous Lake Louise.
For any stay in the Canadian Rockies, if you must see only one lake, it is this one.
A glacial lake, perched at an altitude of 1700m, 2.4 km long, and 1.2 km wide, its immensity is equaled only by its beauty.

 It is very difficult to remain unmoved in front of one of the most beautiful lakes in Canada. 

What time of the year?

The lake can be visited all year round, unlike Moraine Lake. 
In summer, the season is in full swing and you will have access to the Moraine Lake road

You can also easily hike to Lake Agnes.
In winter, Lake Louise is frozen and it is possible to ice skate on the lake, a magical experience. 

A few kilometers away, you can put on skis at the Lake Louise resort
In the fall, only Lake Louise is accessible.

What time of day?

Don't expect to be alone in the world to capture Lake Louise! Such a spectacle, Lake Louise is cosmopolitan and attracts visitors 
If you want to be as quiet as possible to admire it, the Banff National Park advises you to go there before 9 am or after 6 pm!

The Lake has located 65 km from Banff and 190 km from Calgary.
The closest "town" is the Lake Louise ski resort which is about 10 km away.

Also, if you want to reach Lake Louise, you don't have to walk for hours. 

You can take the road by car in a shuttle or by one of the many excursions, and even by bike!
