Originally a major industrial center, Canada's 8th largest city has been transformed into a city where education, services and culture have replaced industry. Located southwest of Toronto, at the end of Lake Ontario and 45 minutes from Niagara Falls, Hamilton offers many interesting places to visit. The Art Gallery of Hamilton is the 3rd largest in the country and one of the oldest. It is located in the downtown area and houses a magnificent collection of 10,000 works of art. A port city, Hamilton also has a museum of aeronautics that is not to be missed. You can also visit a warship: the HMCS Haida. It is a famous fighter destroyer that was used during World War II, the Korean War and the Cold War. Finally, visit Dundurn Castle. This neoclassical mansion built in the 1930s is located on York Boulevard. It was purchased by the city and is now open to the public. In addition to these cultural visits, the city of Hamilton also has a wealth of natural attractions, especially thanks to its proximity to Niagara Falls. Indeed, sometimes nicknamed the "city of waterfalls", there are about a hundred of them in the Niagara Escarpment. Among the most famous, Albion and its 19 meters, Tiffanny Falls with 21 meters, but especially the splendid Webster's Falls, 30 meters wide. Some of these waterfalls are accessible from the legendary Bruce Trail. Officially created in 1960, it is a hiking trail that connects Niagara to Tobermory with 890km. It is one of the longest in Canada.
