Where is it located ?

Paraty is a charming  village in South America specifically in Brazil on the south of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
The old town has been classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO since 1966.
This village is located on the beautiful Costa Verde, halfway between Rio de Janeiro 260 kilometers and São paulo 290 kilometers.

A little bit of History :

Paraty was Founded in 1667, following the discovery of gold in the mountains of the state of Minas Gerais also named caminho do ouro .
The city of Paraty quickly grew rich, becoming the port from which the ships that transported the gold to Portugal left.

This colonial village is located in the bay of Ilha Grande. He will offer you  a variety of islands of green colors that contrast with the blue of the Atlantic Ocean.
The mountains of the hinterland and the Serra da Bocaina National Park can reach 1200 to 1300 meters and reveal magnificent waterfalls.

They are called Cachoeiras by the Brazilians.
The most famous of these waterfalls are :

-Cachoeira da Pedra Branca
-Cachoeira do Tobogã
-Cachoeira de Sete Quedas

What kind of weather?

Paraty is a real paradise on earth, full of activities and luxuriant nature, with a mild climate all year round.
It varies from 19 to 25 degrees celsius but can sometimes reach peaks of 40 degrees celsius.

This remains bearable thanks to frequent sea breezes.
The rainy season oscillates between December and March

A walk in the old city, no cars allowed

The center kept his facades and buildings from the colonial era .
the streets are still paved with the original stones and the facades of the colonial houses will offer you a colorful show.

Your best pair of heels will not be strong enough to face the cobblestone maze of the historic city center.
So we recommend a good pair of sneakers to enjoy the show without any stress.

Paraty has been able to preserve many of its historic buildings. The architecture of the city has changed little in the last 250 years or more.

A walk in this historic center will transport you to the heart of a bohemian atmosphere.
Let yourself be invaded by the scent of coffee, browse the art galleries and small craft stores. Stop att the corner of a street stop for an improvised musical street show.

Paraty is perfect for people who are looking for peace and quiet, to disconnect from the big cities and take their time.
Paraty is perfect for Slow tourism
